Abstract

Climate change impacts have the potential to amount to a threat to peace in the normative sense entailed in the United Nations Charter. The truth is that there are, no concrete examples of violent conflicts induced by climate change, and a limited understanding of what the future holds. Many researchers argue that it is not climate change that is to blame, but rather it is issues such as poor governance of water resources that are the driving factor behind such conflicts.

In has been recommended that united nations security council in dealing with adverse impacts of climate change might put away any involvement, adopt Coercive Measures, resort to Military force, End impunity for environmental ‘crimes, Request to the International Court of Justice, impose Sanctions, do a non-response and resort to Legislative Competences or Authorizing measures. But observing the existence of Multilateral Climate Treaties and other forum, it seems unnecessary for Security Council action by now. Besides, withdrawal of some permanent members of Paris Agreement makes it difficult for the council urging compulsory action in pro of climate.
